Foodways Texas, an educational organization aimed at preserving, promoting and celebrating the diverse food cultures of Texas, brings their annual symposium to the city of Houston April 12-14, 2018.  The symposium, entitled Shrimp and Grit: Food and Community Along the Texas Gulf Coast, “focuses on the joys and struggles of life on the Texas Gulf Coast as seen through its foodways.” The three-day educational event will showcase a mix of programming covering everything from the preservation of cultural traditions to revitalization post natural disasters.
