Join The Health Museum for a Learning Mindfulness series this fall! Dr. Ann Friedman, a psychologist and certified mindfulness instructor, will teach techniques that will help each participant to pay attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity, and kindness. Mindfulness is something we do naturally, however, daily, past, and future events occupy our minds, taking us away from being fully present in our present experiences.  During Mindfulness Medication Classes, all participants will learn techniques on how to pay attention to thoughts and emotions that take over our minds as well as how to shift our thought processes in order to become more aware of our surroundings. Through the learning process of observing thoughts and feelings, participants will become skillful in the art of bringing relaxation to the mind and body when dealing with stress and anxiety.

Over the last 25 years, mindfulness practices have been studied widely in America and shown to reduce stress, lessen suffering from anxiety, depression and physical pain, boost the immune system, improve our sense of well-being, and actually change the structure and function of the brain. Since 2007, Dr. Friedman has studied the subject of Mindfulness intensively along with various national teachers. In 2015, she received a Certification in Mindfulness Facilitation from the Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) of the Semel mindfulness and also currently teaches adults, teens, caregivers, and their kids the art of letting go of stressful thoughts and the art of refocusing attention.

Mindfulness classes for adults will be offered every Tuesday evening from September 12 - October 17 from 6-7 pm for $250 per participant.

Mindfulness classes for teens, caregivers and children are also being offered from October 1- November 12. Classes for teens are $250 per teen, and parent and child classes are $250, with only $75 extra for each additional child.

Classes for children ages 6-8 are from 1-2 pm, children ages 9-12 from 2:30-3:30 pm, and teens classes are from 4-5 pm.  All museum members receive a $25 discount.
