Layne Lynch

During her youth, Layne Victoria Lynch cultivated a deep appreciation for creole Southern fare while cooking alongside her mother, Mary, and grandmothers, Carol and Margie. An honors graduate of the School of Journalism at The University of Texas at Austin, Layne now works as a food writer in Houston.

For the past few years, Layne's writings have mainly focused on the things that fascinate her most: passionate chefs, Texas farmers and ranchers, innovative restaurants and culinary trends. Although she loves to eat at places like Oxheart, Cuchara, Local Foods, Pho Binh and Himalaya, her favorite place to dine is at home among her friends and family.

Layne has written stories online or in print for publications like Texas Monthly, Food Network Magazine, My Table Magazine, CultureMap, Edible Austin, the Austin American-Statesman and Houstonia . If she isn't writing or blogging about her culinary adventures or musings, Layne is probably seeking sanctuary on her family farm in Brenham or hanging with her spunky Weimaraner, Jack.

Layne Victoria Lynch Houston-born, Houston-raised – seeks out culinary adventures whenever and wherever they present themselves, often documenting her curiosities and discoveries in publications like Texas Monthly, Food Network Magazine, and Edible.

Layne Victoria Lynch is a Houston-born and-raised freelance writer and an honors graduate of the School of Journalism at The University of Texas at Austin

Growing up on a ranch, Layne Lynch never knew how Southern she was until her Northeastern friends started drawing attention to her overuse of the word “y’all.”
