Harold’s

Harold’s Restaurant, founded by Alli Jarrett, opened in 2013. Alli graduated from the University of South Carolina on a golf scholarship—she moved to Houston to make a career of the game she loved with the United States Golf Association, where she worked for almost 15 years. Her passion, however, has always been about people and serving others. She created Harold’s Restaurant, Bar & Terrace to stop traveling 100 nights per year for her job, to fill her passion of serving, be a job creator and engage with her community. With the help of private equity funds, Alli renovated the 90-year-old building that formerly housed Harold’s in the Heights, an iconic clothing store that operated for 62 years. Shirts and ties are now shrimp & grits!

Harold’s mirrors Alli’s personality with the focus on providing guests with Southern hospitality, delicious Southern cuisine and handcrafted beverages. Alli grew up in a farming community so she pushes her culinary team to use the freshest ingredients possible and do business with local and regional farmers to ensure the menu is fresh and seasonal.

Alli is an entrepreneur with a huge heart and drive to support her community in nearly every way possible. Harold’s prides itself not only on receiving awards like Houston Chronicle Top 100 Restaurants, Eater’s Best Outdoor Patio In Houston and Edible Houston’s Local Hero Restaurant Award but also its philanthropic activities. Harold’s supports the Houston Food Bank through Houston Restaurant Weeks, employees an adult with an intellectual disability through Summerhouse, provides a safe night’s sleep to the Houston Area Women’s Center through its support of Women of Wine, helps feed the homeless through its participation in Come to the Table, supports education through the Houston Rodeo and more.

In addition to the restaurant, bar and rooftop terrace and first-level Tap Room Bar, Harold’s, offers a private dining room, private event space with banquet service, off-premises catering and food truck. Harold’s is open for lunch, dinner, happy hour and weekend brunch, and the staff enjoys customizing menus for guests celebrating special occasions.

So feel free to take off your tie, now that we have servers instead of tailors, and roll up your sleeves for some down-home Southern food. Enjoy farm-fresh vegetables and meats and dining on the best rooftop terrace in Houston—plus inventive cocktails like our refreshing Tini-Bellini.

Alli and the staff at Harold’s look forward to serving you soon, where you can Eat, Drink & Be Southern!
