Edible Houston Distillery Guide 2016
From sugarcane growing next to the distillery to vines of raisins dehydrating under the sun, from grains to spices, pot stills to charred barrels: Local spirits are making a splash! Houston’s craft spirits scene is growing. New distilleries are opening and bars are creating local cocktail menus. Our established distilleries keep refining their crafted spirits with each small batch. Bourbon, vodka, aquavit, gin—it is increasingly fun to shop for locally made spirits. What’s more, many of our favorites even have a tasting room where you can sip samples, meet the distiller and tour the facilities to learn how it is made.
This Spirits Guide is to give you an idea of what is distilling out there in our own backyard. These artisans want to introduce you to their home-grown, darn good spirits—their dedication to bringing unique, handcrafted spirits to our local market shows in every bottle. Use this Guide to plan visits to the distilleries. Buy a bottle to use at home and ask the barkeep to use local spirits in your favorite cocktail!
