Dessert Gallery

When you grow up learning how to read from the back of a chocolate chip cookie package, one might say it’s your destiny to become a pastry chef. That’s exactly the career path Sara Brook chose. Starting out at age 21, she began running her business out of her parents’ kitchen. If you’ve tasted Sara’s desserts, it will come as no surprise that her business grew rapidly, landing her wholesale accounts with some of Houston’s top restaurants at the time including Nino’s, Tony’s and Jamail’s on Kirby. Now, 36 years later, Brook is still going strong under the banner of Dessert Gallery, which she opened in 1995.

One of the reasons Dessert Gallery has been a staple in the Houston community for so long is because of the attention to detail and quality control of the desserts. Sara’s thinking is that if she wouldn’t serve it to you in her home, she isn’t serving it at Dessert Gallery. Houstonians have come to love Dessert Gallery’s desserts because they  recall the way their moms and grandmas made them. Real desserts made with love by real people are always stocked fresh at the café, from the fan-favorite tres leches to the classic chocolate-dipped chocolate-chunk cookies. Whether you are gluten-free, sugar-free, vegan or have other special dietary needs, Dessert Gallery has something sweet for you.

Centrally located on Kirby Drive right off of U.S. Highway 59, Dessert Gallery provides customers with a relaxed atmosphere—you can enjoy not only dessert, but the café’s free wi-fi, plentiful indoor and outdoor seating and an extensive drink menu featuring coffees, teas and milkshakes made with local Texas ice cream, Amy’s Ice Cream. With extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until midnight, Dessert Gallery is a place where you can grab a quick dessert if you’re in a rush, or you can come in, put your feet up and catch up with a friend or loved one.

At Dessert Gallery, we know that life gets busy sometimes and physically stopping in to our café might not be possible. We offer online ordering through our website or via numerous mobile apps. A full lunch menu is also available for individual needs or full-scale catering (24 hours’ notice is needed). At Dessert Gallery you’ll never face an order minimum. Whether you’re seeking one cookie or a hundred, we will make sure your day is a bit sweeter and deliver the treat(s) right to you. Does your family include a furry friend? Dessert Gallery also offers pet-friendly desserts so every member of your family can partake in a sweet treat. Check out our website for the continually changing community-focused initiatives that Dessert Gallery supports!
