7th Annual Galveston Island Shrimp Festival Returns September 23rd

Galveston Island is a seafood lover’s paradise all year round, but this September Yaga’s Entertainment Inc. will bring foodies a little taste of heaven at the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival to be held September 23 & 24. Featuring some of the best shrimp gumbo the Gulf Coast has to offer.
Lots of new activities for the 2017 event. The former Shrimp Scamper 5K Fun Run has transformed into an Official 5K with a timing feature and route in Galveston’s downtown Strand Historic District. Other 5K improvements include new drawings with unique prizes for participants, new registration categories and a run/walker village with a variety of health related vendors.
Event festivities begin on Friday, September 23 at 7:30m with the VIP Sponsor Party and Texas Size Shrimp Dinner in Saengerfest Park honoring the sponsors and cook-off teams from 7:30pm-10:00pm. VIP Sponsor Party tickets are available to the public and include a Texas Size Shrimp Dinner and Libations for $50.00.
Saturday events begin with the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival Official 5K in downtown at 9:00am. All fitness levels and ages are invited to join in this event. Costumes and teams are encouraged! Registration includes an event T-shirt, Koozie and Gumbo Sampling Cup as entry into the Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival.
The Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off and live music will be held in Historic Strand District on Saturday, September 24 beginning at 10:00am. Visitors to the festival will be able to purchase a Gumbo Sampling Cup in advance for $10 plus tax (get them now - prices go up 9/9/2016). This cup will allow guests to sample gumbo from over 60 cook-off teams comprised of amateur and professional cookers from 12:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday, September 24. Other events on Saturday include the Lil’ Shrimps Parade at 3:00pm sponsored by Galveston Shrimp Company with festive floats, marching band and bead tossing and the Lil’ Shrimps Kids Area open from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
