Savor the flavors of Latin American cuisine during the third annual Latin Restaurant Weeks that runs now through June 14

The festivities feature the talents of Hispanic culinary professionals and highlight their creative efforts at Greater Houston’s favorite Latin restaurants, bakeries, food trucks, and catering company.

Latin Restaurant Weeks (LRW), proudly sponsored by Tequila Herradura, is a delectable opportunity for both local and visiting foodies to explore Latin cuisine, and support Latin-owned businesses. Latin Restaurant Weeks sets out to shine a light on Houston’s Hispanic culinary community and their impact on the city. With the third largest Hispanic population in the United States—and Hispanic restaurant ownership at an all-time high—Latin cuisine is a major contributor to Houston’s nationwide reputation for incredible food. LRW encourages Houstonians and visitors to take their taste buds on an exploration of the unique Latin cuisines represented this year including Mexican, Colombian, Puerto Rican, Peruvian, El Salvadorean, Venezuelan, Tex-Mex and more. Diners can also enjoy BBQ, Japanese fare with a Latin twist, and other fusion concepts or Latin-owned concepts such as Peruvian and Lebanese-owned Craft Pita who serve delicious Mediterranean fare. Latin Restaurant Weeks 2021 comes at a time when restaurants are recovering from the pandemic and are ready to serve customers!

“Despite all the challenges last year, we were incredibly impressed at how being part of Latin Restaurant Weeks helped us reach new customers who may not have discovered us otherwise," said Cristina Benítez, co-owner of Cafe Piquet Cuban Cuisine. “My family has run this restaurant for nearly 20 years - we’re grateful for a community that helps us stay on this vital path of recuperation and continues to honor us with their support. We love being part of an event that helps others and brings attention to our diverse cuisines. Karinn has been laser focused on the details and efforts for everyone. We’re thankful and super excited to be part of the initiative again!”

Menu items are available during the two-week showcase for dine-in, takeout, or delivery services offered by each individual participant. Affordable menu options at more than 40 restaurants around Greater Houston range from $13-$45.

The diverse selection of cuisines represented in Latin Restaurant Weeks includes concepts popular in Latin American cities. Diners can go for a sweet treat at all four Rustika Café locations or Sweets by Belen, to fine dining at award-winning La Fishería in downtown Houston. Newcomers this year include  Aroma Colombia, Harris County General Store BBQ, Inka Restaurant, Juanitas Mexican Kitchen, Las Mañanitas (Richmond, Katy, Cypress), La Olla (Houston, Spring, Katy), Paisa’s Twin (Westheimer), Papalo Mercado (inside Finn Hall downtown Houston), Paisas Chicken, Roasti Pollo, Tacos del Julio (Airline and Pasadena), and many more.

In addition to sharing the wide and delectable variety of Latin cuisine available in our very own backyard, Latin Restaurant Weeks makes an economic, educational and philanthropic difference in Houston’s Hispanic community and hospitality world. LRW is working with Feed The Soul Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aids marginalized entrepreneurs in the culinary industry with business development and advertising resources, scholarship opportunities, and emergency funding. The two entities will work together throughout the year to help provide resources and opportunities to Latin-owned businesses in Houston.

“This year’s focus is helping our beloved Latin-owned restaurants, caterers, and food trucks so they can get back on their feet,” said Karinn Chavarria. “Our missions align and together we can streamline a holistic support system that these individuals need from us right now. We’re encouraging Houstonians and visitors to try something new and explore these hidden gems. They can’t do it without us.”
