In 2020, Edible Houston celebrates five years of sharing the stories of the incredible men and women working to make our community a better place to eat, drink, and live.

A little background

In May 2015 our very first issue rolled of the press with the cover story featuring dairy goat farmers Lisa and Christian Seger of Blue Heron Farms. Many more issues followed since that first one and with each issue the spotlight has been on our local farmers, growers, makers and shakers—and that includes our local pollinators. Happy as Pig on a Goat Farm is a great example of a story that digs deep and shines the light on the farm and farmer.

We are the local platform, the only magazine in town that focusus on telling the stories of the people behind our food and drink, consistently and thoroughly.

In all of our now almost five years, we produced 25 issues times 25,000 distributed copies. That is over 600,000 well-received, well-loved and complimented-on printed magazines. Members never have to hunt for their copy: They get it delivered directly to their mailbox. The rest of the magazines is distributed complimentary via our advertising partners to make sure it is accessible to everyone.

Complimentary, however, doesn’t mean free. There is a subtle difference—but a vital one for the magazine.

You can’t publish something this beautiful, this insightful, and this informative free of cost. There is cost—from paying contributors to print and distribution.

Members Are Part Of The Conversation

This is where members come in. Members are the pillars of our local platform. They play a significant role in our ability to share these stories.

A membership with Edible Houston is about being an integral part of the conversation about a better food system; of knowing where our food comes from. It’s about supporting a platform that consistently brings the stories of the people behind our food. If you care about local, care about where your food comes from, care what goes INTO your food, care about your environment, then supporting Edible Houston is a step you should take. JOIN HERE

How Does Membership Work?

Your membership goes to supporting our work and each of you truly makes a difference in keeping Edible Houston sustainable. With you, we have a thriving, engaged community and can do more!

Beyond the mission, Edible Houston Membership gives you exclusive things: Our Loyal to Local Passport, lots of live local, live well fun, special events and partner discounts plus 5 seasonal issues delivered to your home or office.

We recently took exploration a step further by creating a fun way to bring the community straight to the source with our Loyal To Local Passport Program. Edible Houston members receive a Passport filled with pages of exclusive offers from some of our city’s top food and beverage establishments - deals worth over $400! Free beignets or bananas foster at Brennan’s anyone?

You can start using your Passport right away, every day through the end of the year. Plus, we started gathering for Passport Meet-Ups on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. It’s a fun way to meet new people, hang with friends and spend time with like-minded people.

While you do need to be a member to cash in on our Passport offers, each meet-up is an open invitation for anyone looking for an inside peek on what it means to be an Edible Houston member. So next time you see a post on social media or a newsletter announcement about our next meet-up come join us—there’s always room at our table, they are always free to attend, always casual and always fun.

Passport meetups are fun, tasty, informative... all of the above!
