Edible Houston and tasteMAKERS share a love of food and community

Meet the Makers, a nine-city touring event, will kick off in Houston on Sun., Nov. 11 at Silver Street Studios at Sawyer Yards. Meet the Makers is a companion to tasteMAKERS, a new national public television series produced by Emmy-winning host Cat Neville. Edible Houston is proud to be a sponsor of this event that celebrates and supports our maker community with a focus on farmers, chefs and producers who are the heart and soul of the Houston food family. Edible Houston and tasteMAKERS are bringing hundreds of Houstonians to the table on Sunday, November 11 to eat, drink and celebrate the flavor of H-Town. We want you to join us!

The event will begin with series of live interviews and segments from the show, with Kathleen Morgan of Honeychild's Sweet Creams, Victoria Dearmond of Underbelly Hospitality, Cath Conlon of Blackwood Educational Land Institute and Craig Miller from Mill-King Market and Creamery as well as Daniella Lewis and master farmer Constant from Plant It Forward Farms. About tasteMAKERS:

In tasteMAKERS, Emmy-winning producer and host Catherine Neville is focusing her lens on the artisans who are defining the flavor of American food, offering viewers a unique look at the burgeoning culinary maker movement. This series, which has clearance on about 85% of public television stations nationwide, is a journey into the heart of America, where makers who are focused on flavor create products that reflect the character of their environment as well as their communities.

tasteMAKERS' first 13-episode season of half-hour episodes takes viewers from a shellfish operation in the icy waters off the coast of Washington to a sheep’s milk dairy in the rolling hills of Missouri to a tofu factory in the heart of Chicago to a snail farm on the North Fork of Long Island. Each episode follows a documentary-style story arc, and viewers learn what drives these makers, what inspires them and how they perfected their craft. “Seeking stories over the last 20 years has led me to discover and appreciate the risks these makers take and the determination required to follow their passion,” says Cat. “I've seen first hand the positive impact experienced by those who work each day to create something that is unique and personal and, in tasteMAKERS, I am excited to share their stories.”
