My name is Fernanda Nunes, I am a senior at The Village School. I have always been curious about how the food I eat nourishes my body. I was first introduced to a whole foods plant based diet after watching the documentary by Michal Siewierski “Food Choices”. I was soon fascinated by this diet which prevented and helped cure various diseases, provided all essential micro and macro-nutrients, was extremely beneficial to the environment and prevented animal cruelty. I continued researching about this so called “vegan” diet - a diet that excludes all animal based foods, including meat, dairy and eggs - and decided to transition into this lifestyle. 5 months later, I can ascertain that going vegan has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. From this transition, I have learned a lot about the importance of food and created various vegan recipes that my family, friends and I adore.
