Fielding's Wood Grill - Smoke BurgerWebsiteFielding's takes using local and reclaimed material seriously. The restaurant was built using as many repurposed and energy efficient materials as possible. The wood is antique oak and was reclaimed and recycled from a hay barn built in 1930 in Seymour Missouri, and a corn crib barn built in 1928 in Iowa City, Iowa. Both were abandoned and in dilapidated condition. The woods were transported to Peculiar, Missouri where all the metals were removed, rough sawn, kiln-dried and then custom milled for the original Fielding’s Wood Grill in The Woodlands, Texas. They utilize as much local, all natural and organic products as is possible and hand-cut, grind and patty their burgers every day. Pasta, sauces, breads, dressings and ice cream or gelatos are made in house by the culinary team. And, they cure their own bacon using sea salt, herbes de Provence and paprika and smoke it in our rotisserie over Texas pecan and oak woods. Pair your meal with a seasonal cocktail or local beer. The food (and drinks) are totally worth the trip! |

Liberty Kitchen + Oyster Bar's Eddie BurgerWebsiteFor those of you who don't know Chef Lance with F.E.E.D TX restaurant group, he's a surfer - to say that the surf culture influences his inventive recipes and menu development is an understatement. Case in point is the Eddie Burger at Liberty Kitchen + Oyster Bar that is mamed after Eddie Aikau, a famous northshore Hawaiian lifeguard and surfer. Chef Lance was having a burger after surfing one day and a guy who had an Eddie Aikau t-shirt on sat next to him. He asked what the guy was eating - it was a pimento cheese, pickle and onion sandwich. Lance said "that would be good on a burger" so they ordered one made that way and deemed it great! When he returned to Houston, he simply added Liberty Kitchen's mavericks mustard and bacon jam. What to name it? He remembered that the t-shirt the guy who inspired the burger was wearing - Eddie Aikau! |

Cacao & CardamomWebsiteAt Cacao & Cardamom, Chocolatier Annie Rupani uses fine chocolate to make beautiful tiny pieces of art, painted in shiny bright colors and filled with exotic flavor combinations influenced by her South Asian background and travels. Think cardamom rose, coconut curry and black sesame ginger. Annie uses chocolate because it's a great medium for flavors that don’t exist in it currently. It's fun for her to make bonbons with different flavors and ingredients - we're sure glad she's so creative because the unique flavors are what sets Cacao & Cardamom apart. Don't know what you want? The staff behind the counter will help you find something to please every chocolate lover (there's some non-chocolate goodies too). Craft Burger Food Truck's Morning After BurgerWebsiteChef Shannen Tune lunched craft burger food truck in January of 2016. Craft Burger is a gourmet burger food truck that uses all natural, locally sourced beef and produce. His culinary motto – “the difference between good and great is giving big attention to the little details” – defines his cooking style to a big Texas T. Whether its chili and brown sugar rubbed-bacon on his legendary Hangover Burger or the hint of fresh shaved truffle in his truffle butter Juicy Lucy, Chef is notorious for taking comfort foods to a higher culinary level with only subtle modifications. Shannen was featured on Food Network’s Chopped episode beg borrow or eel. In the entrée round Shannen produce a fried pousssin and braised greens which Judge Chris Santos called the best entrée he has ever had on the show. Chef Tune went on to dominate the dessert round with a Texas Fair inspired beer battered chocolate moon pie. He went on to win the show, making him the first chef in Houston to take home the title of Chopped Champion. His home base is at Deacon Baldy’s Bar and Food Truck Park but he's getting a second truck so make sure to visit the Craft Burger Food Truck to see where you can find him (or book the truck!). |

Harvest Grain MillsWebsiteSHOP | COOK Heritage Rice Farmer in Anahuac, Texas. Since 1947, the Kirkham and Wilcox families have been farming rice in Anahuac, Texas. Since it’s a small farming and ranching town, it’s not uncommon for young boys to learn early on how to drive a tractor and operate a combine, coached by fathers who farmed their entire adult life. David Kirkham and Donald Wilcox were two of those boys who spent summers and afternoons after school out in the fields shoveling levees and disking fields. After graduating, they joined their fathers in the family business and continue the family farming tradition to this day. Over the past few years, cousins David Kirkham and Donald Wilcox noticed that most common table rice had lost much of its flavor. They began looking for more flavorful varieties and higher quality rice to offer to consumers in their area. Their search led them to begin growing organic Carolina Gold and Charleston Gold rice. However, to take the rice from seed all the way to the table, they still needed a way to process it. Thus, Harvest Grain Mills was born. They grow heritage rice and produce rice grits. Find them at Urban Harvest Farmers Market or purchase online. You can also visit! Wine intimidates many people, but it doesn’t need to. While there is always more to learn and there are plenty of services for more experienced drinkers looking to build impressive cellars, buying wine should be fun for anyone. There is no right or wrong way to drink wine, but having someone to help makes the experience that much more rich. The staff at Houston Wine Merchant will help you select the perfect wine!
